Before founding Reaching for Resolve, James Chicanot was an original partner at ADR Education, one of Canada’s most experienced and respected dispute resolution firms. Over the course of nearly 20 years, he played a key role in building ADR into one of the country’s foremost leaders in the field.

Before founding Reaching for Resolve, James Chicanot was an original partner at ADR Education, one of Canada’s most experienced and respected dispute resolution firms. Over the course of nearly 20 years, he played a key role in building ADR into one of the country’s foremost leaders in the field.
James maintains a close and ongoing collaboration with ADR Education, continuing to work with the firm on various initiatives. He is the co-author of two widely used training manuals, The Practice of Mediation and The Practice of Negotiation, both integral to learning environments across Canada. Additionally, James is one of the developers of the ConflictAbility Assessment, an innovative diagnostic tool designed to assess and enhance conflict competency. He also serves as a “Conflict Concierge” offering highly personalized, expertly tailored support and consulting services to select individuals and organizations at every stage of conflict. His unique ability to adapt and craft thoughtful solutions for each situation and context sets him apart.
With Reaching for Resolve, James is excited to explore, develop, and implement innovative, values-based approaches to conflict resolution interventions and capacity building. Holding a Graduate Degree in Dispute Resolution, James brings 25 years of experience in delivering a wide range of conflict resolution and leadership development services across Canada. His expertise spans various sectors, including government, private industry, administrative bodies, community organizations, environmental initiatives, commercial enterprises, First Nations, workplace settings, and family matters.
